| Music & Drama
- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) |
| 1. |
What
is the age limit for Music/Drama Week?
Music & Drama is for 8th through 12th graders. |
|
| 2. |
When should I send my money in to reserve my spot?
Go ahead and register now. You can get the registration
form on the camp Web site if your church does not have
copies. Just complete the form, print it, have it signed
in all the required areas, and mail it in with your payment.
Please send to Pam Strong; her address is on the form as
well as the website. The earlier you register the better.
You'll also notice that you can order a camp t-shirt or
cap on the registration form. You can do this, but we will
be selling Music & Drama t-shirts this year also. We'll
send out an informational email to everyone who is registered
to attend. This will be completely separate from the shirt/cap
on the registration form. You are welcome to purchase one
or the other or both. |

How
many people can attend Music & Drama?
We do have limited space for campers due to bus size (55 seats). The
M&D camper limit is 45 campers. We usually do not have a full week,
but this year we have had many requests for information so it is
important to go ahead and register early to secure your spot.
The girls usually outnumber the guys 3 to 1, so if you
know some guys who enjoy singing, dancing and acting, let
them know about this week! |
|
| 4. |
Is
there a special application for Music & Drama?
No, just the normal camp registration. |
|
| 5. |
Do
campers get to choose who they bunk with during Music & Drama
Week?
Normally, when you register for camp, a confirmation card is
sent verifying your registration and assigning each camper
to a specific cabin. However, for Music & Drama, the staff
assigns cabins on the day of registration (Saturday). There
is typically no problem staying with your friends, but if you
have a special request regarding housing, please e-mail
Evelyn. |

What
is the policy on cell phones and other electronic equipment?
We have new cell phone
policy: No cell phones during camp before tour. If you bring one
for tour, please it OFF and in your luggage until tour. If parents
need to contact you for the first part of the week, they can call
the camp number or the deans. During tour, cell phone use will
be prohibited at churches and on the bus. You will be allowed to
use your phone during free times. When you are being housed, you
may make a brief call (less than 10 minutes) to your family. Any
calls longer than that will need to be placed after you go to bed
without disturbing the rest of the household. If you have questions,
please contact one of the deans. We will discuss these rules in
more detail before we leave for tour.
As for other electronics, Discmans, MP3 Players, Walkmans,
etc., cannot be used at camp. This is a camp rule. We do
allow these items on tour for use on the bus, but we ask
that you keep them packed in your suitcase until we are
on the bus headed out on tour.
Hairdryers, curling irons, fans, clocks, etc. are always
permitted. |

What
should we pack differently for M&D compared to a regular
week of camp?
You will need everything you would bring for a regular week
of camp, plus some. We prefer that you bring a smaller suitcase
for tour, so if you need to bring a larger one for camp, we
will be able to leave it at our host church, along with your
dirty clothes, fans, and sleeping bags (unless we'll need them
on tour), to be picked up after the final program. There is
limited space under the bus for baggage and props, set, etc.,
so please plan accordingly.
It does get chilly on the bus, so bring warmer clothing
or a blanket. |
|
| 8. |
What
do we wear at camp?
The normal camp Dress
Code applies. If you violate the camp dress code you will be asked
by our staff to change. Please carefully read these rules.
|
|
| 9. |
How
long are we in tour outfit?
Each performance is about an hour long plus time before and after to meet
and greet the hosting congregation. There is usually not enough time to change immediately after the program before you leave with your host
family.

|
| 10. |
What
are our housing accommodations on tour?
On tour we split up to stay at houses of our host church's members. Our
host church sets up the housing, so we must be flexible. Campers usually
choose their own groups and no camper ever goes alone. Groups
range from 2 and up and will be same sex groups. Male and female campers
are never sent anywhere together without a counselor. This year we will
have a sign-up during the camp week for housing while on tour (based
on any information we have from our host churches). We do not
guarantee that you will stay with your closest friends every
night.

How
much money should I bring?
We spend money on these activities:
canteen, tour activities, bus driver tip, meal money, souvenirs,
etc. Talk to your parents and bring an amount of money suitable
to you and them. We have canteen at camp twice a day, where
you can buy sodas, candy, chips, etc.
We'll be collecting money from each camper at registration
to cover the bus driver tip (at least $2) and additional
money for special activities on Friday and Saturday. The
exact amount will be posted on the Web site closer to camp
time.
You will need spending money on tour for both meals and
fun. You will always buy your lunch and sometimes breakfast
or dinner. Tour this year will be 7 or 8 meals. You know
how much you spend on a meal at a fast food restaurant
- bring enough to cover yourself.
**If you run out of money on tour and have no money left
to buy food, we will buy your meals, but they'll be $5
or less (dollar menu or kid's meals).
WE DO NOT HOLD CAMPERS' MONEY FOR THEM AT ALL. What you
spend on canteen and tour is your business. We expect our
campers to be responsible enough for this.

Where
do we go on tour? Our
tour changes every year. We've gone as far away as Grundy,
Va., Bristol, Va., and Manteo, N.C. on tour some years. This
year's tour schedule will be posted on the Web site. |
